Microsoft HoloLens 2 Update Preview

 In HoloLens New Features

Microsoft HoloLens 2 continues to enhance the user experience with its latest software update. The recent changes to HoloLens 2 include the introduction of automatic eye calibration, improvements in color calibration, and the addition of a new reading mode. These updates collectively contribute to a more comfortable and efficient user experience.

The first notable feature is the implementation of automatic eye position calibration. This innovation ensures a seamless transition from one user to another. With Automatic Eye Position (AEP), any user can quickly use the HoloLens 2 without the need for manual calibration. In contrast to the previous method that involved a multi-step manual process, the headset now automatically calibrates the user’s eye position. This convenience is particularly beneficial for demonstrations, training sessions, and scenarios involving multiple users. Companies conducting employee training will find that this streamlined process significantly improves efficiency. It’s important to note that while AEP is highly convenient for scenarios like training and one-time demonstrations, Microsoft recommends running the full calibration process for the utmost tracking accuracy.

The second key enhancement focuses on improving color calibration. This upgrade results in higher image quality for the HoloLens 2. By addressing a previous issue where darker colors exhibited a reddish tone, and problems arose when the display was dimmed, Microsoft has taken steps to ensure that “color accuracy across the brightness spectrum” is achieved, offering users a more consistent visual experience.

The third new feature introduces a reading mode to the HoloLens 2. This mode also enhances image quality, particularly when reading content. Although these new features are not yet available to all users, Microsoft has made them accessible for preview through its insider preview program.

These continuous improvements to the HoloLens 2 exemplify Microsoft’s commitment to refining the user experience and ensuring that users can make the most of its advanced features. With automatic eye calibration, color calibration enhancements, and the upcoming reading mode, HoloLens 2 users can look forward to an even more immersive and comfortable experience.
