Microsoft has just made a significant announcement regarding Dynamics 365 Guides. They’ve introduced a new update to their Guides platform, integrating many of the beloved features from Dynamics 365 Remote Assist. Now, users can enjoy capabilities like group calling, joining team meetings, annotating the HoloLens user’s space, and viewing a remote expert’s screen, all within the Guides environment.

For an in-depth breakdown of all the updates, you can refer to Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 Guides document outlining what’s new. This update marks a monumental milestone in the evolution of Guides, bringing together the best of Remote Assist’s remote work and collaboration features into the realm of self-paced instructions.

Following the introduction of the Guides’ one-to-one calling feature, this update represents the next step in the application’s evolution. It establishes a truly collaborative setting within Guides, enabling multiple subject matter experts to join forces and collaborate as if they were physically present. Remote experts share the same field of view as the HoloLens user, enhancing their interaction with the ability to use arrows or circles to highlight specific areas. Additionally, remote experts can share their screens, send images or PDFs, and engage in chats with HoloLens users, even in noisy environments.

Numerous key scenarios are now possible with this feature, including initiating a live support call with an expert, seeking instructor validation of a new skill or guide completion, seeking assistance while stuck in the middle of a self-paced guide, co-authoring guides, and utilizing the calendar function. We’ll delve into these scenarios and provide use cases that enhance performance in a separate blog post.

Keep in mind that you must be a system administrator to update Dynamics 365 Guides. If you have questions about being a system administrator, please refer to our blog post that delves into the different roles for Guides within an organization.
